Your Mission:

Use your legal experience, problem solving outlook, analytical skill and diplomacy to through a diverse range of responsibilities working with small law firms throughout the client lifecycle. Provide day-to-day legal support to our business units including but not limited to evaluation of law firm matter/case portfolios; contract drafting and negotiation; managing litigation and collection efforts; and providing legal support for special accounts and resolution. As a member of our dynamic and rapidly growing company, the ideal candidate will be passionate about their work and will reflect our values, be self- motivated, detail oriented and have excellent problem-solving and communication abilities. The role requires addressing ambiguous issues, taking responsibility for finding resolution, and seeking simple solutions to complex problems.

Your Day to Day:

• Assess and evaluate law firm client portfolios for underwriting and deal structure
• Identify corporate risk and best strategy in a variety of client interactions while also separately evaluating client needs and business strategy to find mutually agreeable solutions
• Draft various contract and loan documents, often adapting from our existing document library
• Provide strategy and prepare necessary documents for special loan management
• Oversee internal litigation, including court filings and collections efforts
• Serve as a legal resource supporting our operations and client management divisions to address legal questions on an ad hoc basis
• Perform legal research to assist with various corporate, compliance, and contract policy decisions
• Provide support to General Counsel as needed on issues including but not limited to: lending and licensing issues, compliance, corporate governance, and contract law

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school
• Admission in good standing to a state bar (preferably North Carolina)
• 3 plus years of litigation experience
• Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time in a dynamic environment
• Ability to take a proactive and practical approach to problem-solving
• Ability to work independently to assess and resolve legal issues
